My Story

Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I hope you enjoyed.

I began my passion for film in middle school. With few many friends, and constantly feeling alone, I would escape to the movie theater.  It became my happy place. One I would sneak out to often and increasingly.

I decided to pursue directing as a career in my senior year of high school. My father and I were sitting at our usual high top one Saturday afternoon as we would every weekend. Most days we sat in silence, but this day particular day my dad broke that silence, "What do you want to do with your life?" I answered, 'A lawyer, like you.' Instead of affirmation, I got rage. "If you EVER become a lawyer, I will kill you!" The truth was, my father grew up poor and he became a lawyer out of necessity, though in truth he hated it. His dream was to be able to give his children the life he never had. Me. And so, I took a week and thought very hard about what I wanted and who I wanted to become. I came back the next Saturday and told him, "I want to be a movie director and I want to tell stories that matter." Now, my dad smiled, "Then you go and you do that."

My stories are a byproduct of my existence. My relationship with my father and the mourning of his passing. Traveling the world at a young age. Attending an all-boys school through my adolescence. A rich background in the arts and as an artist. Falling in love with the rough, but truly exciting, films of the 70s and 80s. And an honest and skeptical view of human nature, that pushes me to create character who are relatable to the forgotten, the lost, and the abused. These aspects of my life are infused in every piece of work I do, and that I will do throughout my career.
